Need for more participation of youth in politics: MP Bansal

Former union minister and Chandigarh MP, Pawan Kumar Bansal has stressed on the need of increased participation of youth in the politics. Bansal was addressing congress workers at the office of Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee on Saturday in an event organised to mark Congress Foundation day.

Bansal said that BJP was attempting to keep the people under delusion. However, the congress party was confident that the developmental works undertaken by the congress led UPA government would be good for the nation in the long run. Bansal said that present rural youth was running towards urban areas to look for a job. There was also a need to make the employment avenues available for the rural youth in their areas so that besides continuing the agriculture, they could also earn better income. Bansal said that in the present state the farmers had started getting better income.

Harish Choudhary, the All India Congress committee, secretary who was present as observer in the meeting, convened to decide the congress candidates for the post of Chandigarh Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor also addressed the congress workers. Chaudhary called upon the workers to study the expectations and needs of the youth and bring it to the notice of policy makers so that such initiatives could be taken to fulfill the needs of modern youth.

Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee President B B Bahl while addressing the workers paid rich tribute to former Prime minister Jawahar Lal Nehru on the year of 125 birth anniversary of the later. Bahl informed the workers that to mark the 125 birth anniversary of Nehru, the congress committee had donated 125 kg rice and 125 kgs of milk for the blind students.

Chandigarh Mayor Subhash Chawla also addressed the workers.

Later, Pawan Kumar Bansal also chaired a meeting of District Congress Committee (Rural). In this meeting the president of the committee, Devinder Lubana presented an agenda for discussion about various issued. Lubana called for regularisation of houses outside Lal Dora and providing basic amenities to these house owners. Lubana also stressed on need for inclusion of all eligible people under the ambit of Food Security Bill.
