May Day: Bansal emphasises contribution of labour-force
Former Union Minister & local M.P., Pawan Kumar Bansal has extended good
wishes to the working class on the eve of May Day. He said that hard working
labourers, through their untiring, hard lives send a great message to the world.
Sweating in scorching sun and emaciating heat waves, they do not waver and
continue to perform their duty. They can veritably be termed as the wealth of the
nation.
Bansal said, "BJP govt. is anti-worker. The proposed to abandon seven-decade- old
system of D.C. rates should be withdrawn. Engrossed in his work, a lobourer lays the
strong foundation of a building with his blood and sweat. That is why the nation's
progress is dependent on him. Today, the situation is that the unemployed do not get
a job; a lobourer treads every morning to the chowks & road crossings in the hope of
finding a day's work, but in vain.
Bansal said that MGNREGA gave work as also due wages and self-respect to
workers but today's BJP govt. has dedicated itself to the billionaires and is least
concerned about the workers. Wages of over Rs. 9000 cr. remain unpaid under
MGNREGA. Demonetization led to closure of industry, particularly the micro
industry; as a result the hard working labourers are left with tears in their eyes, pain
in the heart and a feeling of helplessness has overtaken their lives. Bansal said that
the people basking in the glory of 'suit-boot' have no inkling of the worries of
common man.
Recalling Adam Gondavi's famous lines, Bansal quoted:
"He that hath blisters on hands, chilblain on feet,
Is one on whose strength, your mansion is lit."
