Let’s everyday be Children’s Day for city: Bansal

MP BANSALMr Pawan Kumar Bansal, Member Parliament today stressed on the Municipal Corporation officials to have year-long activities in slum colonies for the overall growth of children. He said celebrations should not just be confined to one day but there should be interactive activities in and around city including the villages.

Addressing the gathering at the official function at Palm Park in Dadumajra, Mr Bansal who was the chief guest on the occasion appreciated the effort of Municipal Corporation to organize this event in a colony. He said that children of the villages and colonies need platform to express their skills and the Municipal Corporation is providing the same to them by organizing such events. These types of events boost the skillful children from the area.

He said that the themes including remembrance of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Save Girl Child, Save Environment, Traffic Rules etc. were the best selection for the awareness of the children regarding these topics. He also said that other parts of the Dadumajra area will be beautified by developing such type of parks.

A function was also organized at Congress Bhawan in Sector 35 here. Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee (CTCC) president Mr. B.B. Bahl remembered Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Quoting Nehru he further said that our country is a very big country and there is a great deal to be done by all of us. If each one of us does his or her little bit, then all this mounts up and the country prospers and goes ahead fast.

Mr Bansal honoured 51 meritorious girls of Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26 with ‘Girl Star Awards’ for their outstanding achievements at state and national level in fields of academics, sports and extra co-curricular activities.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion the Chief Guest Pawan Kumar Bansal shared that we still have much to do to realize the dreams of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who tirelessly worked for creating an environment in which each child can realize his/her true potential.

The progamme was jointly organized by Yuvsatta, Dr. GC Memorial Educational & Charitable Trust, Oxfam India, Subh Sewa Trust and Garden of Hope Foundation, Taiwan. And prominent amongst those who were present on the occasion included Councillor and former Mayor Pradeep Chhabra, Former Mayor Lalit Joshi, Sohan Lal Vaid, Chairman FOSWAC- PC Sanghi, Harjeet Singh, Incharge, Sector 26 Police Post, Krishan Lal, President, Residents Welfare Association, Sector 26, Chandigarh.
