'Accept disabled a part of the society': MP Bansal

MP BansalChandigarh Member of Parliament, Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal today stressed on the need to accept the disabled a part of the society.

He was speaking at the 21st National Parents Meet 2013 (Parivaar) sponsored by Regional Institute for Mentally Handicapped, Chandigarh held at Auditorium, College Building, GMCH-32, Chandigarh here today.

“I feel fortunate to be a part of this initiative as I feet such events can change the outlook of people towards disability.  They should be considered a part of the society as their disability is because of nature’s will”, he added.

The MP said so many families from different parts of the country had gathered on the occasion and they will get a chance to share their experiences. Mr Bansal said the disabled with success stories should be awarded and this would encourage them.

He said there were so many disabled in the society and we should not just confine to government programmes but should also work more. “So many STD booths which were allotted to the disabled have closed down and it’s time for the government agencies to sit and decide their face”, he added.

Kumari Selja, Union Minister was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr Kiran Bedi, former top cop was also present on the occasion,

In the morning Mr Bansal inaugurated the computer lab at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26 here. The computer lab has been constructed from the MPLAD Funds of Rs 7.6 lakh which had been sanctioned by the MP. The land has provision of 15 computers and 20 benches.

Mr Bansal emphasized computer education is an integral part of modern times and special stress must be given for computer education. He assured assistance to the school for upgrading infrastructure. Mrs. Alka Mehta Principal of the school expressed her gratitude to Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal for his help.
